Dress up games for little kids!

Just blogging my dress up games page, because that naughty Yahoo seems to have disregarded it, tut tut.

This page includes links to dress up games from the Teletubbies, Mister Men, Mixy, and Barbie. It's not easy finding suitable dress up games for the little 'uns, and as usual I have tried to find sites that don't have annoying pop-ups and flashing ads.

Grey Olltwit's Kids' Games

This is a useful site with downloads. In fact, they are the best free downloads I have ever seen on the Web. Now all the games here as far as I remember used to be free, but now Grey has a few games for Members Only! You could, of course, become a member and play the lot.

Go and take a look. My son started playing these games when he was about 5 years old. There are games like Match Up, Sentence Builder, Musical Pairs - and so on. Fun games and educational games. There is a wonderful Basic Mouse Skills game on the educational games page. Search about and enjoy!

How to set up an ezine on your site...

And I'm talking to myself here, because I haven't done it yet - but I'm getting there.

What a lot of things to have to think about.

My aim: to set up an opt-in ezine (newsletter) delivered by email, subscribed to via an online form, produced... bimonthly. Just looked that up in Chambers to check: "bimonthly - happening once in two months: also twice a month." Well I mean twice a month. Fortnightly. Every two weeks. But I haven't decided on that yet!

I have picked up a mass of information on this, so here is the list of tips and tricks, as well as considerations so far.

  1. Name your ezine. Oh dear. Two days' hard thinking - and no inspiration yet. I've thought of some great titles, but at the end of the day, it will probably be the name of the website plus "newsletter". Apparently it's good to have a word like "news" in the subject line.
  2. So you have to avoid spam-triggers in your ezine. Obviously I'm not going to include anything offensive, but there are all sorts of phrases to avoid. Take a look at this - beginning to get the picture? Good job I've got my SpamcheckIt!
  3. Let's think about a bit of content. Quite a bit of content in fact. Calendarize it. Decide what is going out in each issue a few weeks' ahead. More about content anon.
  4. Now, which day of the week should you send out your ezine? When do you read your newsletters? I bet you don't know what day of the week they arrive. Are there some you open and some you don't? Do you open the rubbish ones when you have a bit of time to kill and leave the good ones 'cos they arrive at a bad time? I only subscribe to three newsletters myself, and I have no idea when they get sent. Does it matter? Hmmm...
  5. If you have a blog, plus RSS, what is the point of doing an ezine? Well, according to statcounter, returning visitors are the very lifeblood of a site. So anything you can do to keep 'em coming back is good.
  6. How about doing one of those little 3D bookcovers to advertize your ezine?
  7. The ezine is up and running (just imagining here) - and it's time to "flag it up" on the web. So off we go to new-list (redirected when I put in ezineuniverse).
  8. Of course, the place to go is ezine university where they welcome new students and can't wait to send you... ezines, ebooks and the like!

Well, that is just a taster of what I have found out the last couple of days. Time to turn in and let my subconscious work on that snappy, memorable, informative, instantly recognizable "open me!" ezine title...

Tips for Organizing Childrens Party Games

Just so you have a fun time too!
More tips here, this time transferred from the original kids party games page.

I've also been so brave and put a tiny table on the homepage, with two of my little stars to highlight the new page content. Not that tables are strangers to me - but it's a long time since I did one!

The latest page, which is in fact content that was originally on the toddler party games page, but which I thought could do with a page of its own.

About Little Kids Games Online

About Little Kids Games Online
OK, so I've finally done an "about" page!!! (blush...)

Can anybody guess where the photo was taken? (not open to friends and family this one!) A cyber bar of chocolate and a ray of British sunshine to the winner!

I'm now sorting an ezine and contact details with a form for the site. I'm interested to know what my visitors think, what they want, and what they don't want. Scary stuff.

Got another page in the pipeline for the online games section, should be done and dusted this week too.

Dreadlock accessories for men and women

Wondering why I'm thinking about dreadlocks?
(Hey! Check my new about page as detailed above - not much hope for me in this department lol, my long locks are long gone!)

This site has an interesting way of merging off-site and on-site links, and I like it. Related content link featured on the top sending you straight to the bottom of the page to the links. This, plus a links page, could be part of the the linking strategy.

Home from New York

I've taken a break the last two weeks - we went to New York to see my sister in law and her family. As a Brit, - wow. Great city, wonderful people. I last went there ten years ago. What can I say? The best thing we did last time was view NY from the WTC. So we went and stood and looked instead... Also fitted in a weekend in Cincinnati - my son made a great hat in the art museum!

Soooo, having taken a break from sitebuilding and just about getting over that groggy feeling, it's back to thinking about the web again. We're still going strong on the search engines, although Google is taking its time with the rankings and msn is slow caching and still has the old look and feel. Time to add more content and update some of the listings for the online games.
